Although it might seem quite strange for the year 2010, the number of the publications that deal with modern history only in Romania is not satisfactory. While antique, medieval and contemporary history publications find themselves in a much better situation, the modern history cannot count but a few periodicals. Besides there is a real necessity to bring into notice abroad various reference points of the Romanians’ modernity.
Needless to say that “The Romanian Journal of Modern History” calls for manuscripts regarding especially the Romanians’ modern national history. Nevertheless, we shall definitely attend the universal history and expect a fruitful answer from abroad. The journal presents itself as a challenge not only for young researchers and PhD students, but also for historians of repute who wish to contribute to the development of the studies regarding the modern history of the Romanians.
The articles will be mainly in English but also in French and German whenever the case. We can only hope to meet a healthy attitude and deal with open-minded contributors, especially in Romania. Thus “The Romanian Journal of Modern History” could prove itself as a real historiographic arena where research and analysis should be more than privileged.
